About The Position

Optum’s Global Technology Services (GTS) Infrastructure and Engineering Development Program is a 10-week, in-office internship for students interested in operating and automating enterprise technology. Interns are embedded with a GTS team, participate in day-to-day operational work, and own a visible project that they present to mentors and leaders. Each intern receives a formal mentor and joins a cohort for networking, learning, and exposure to senior leaders. The program emphasizes building technology that can be operated reliably, securely, cost-effectively, and with a strong end-user experience. Interns use AI tools as a default part of their work and learn to translate business needs into technology outcomes. Structured onboarding covers AI fundamentals and productivity tools, cloud and infrastructure basics, security awareness, and GTS operations. Interns are assigned to a team and focus area according to business needs. Focus areas include AIOps and AI for IT Operations; Automation, DevOps and Tooling; Infrastructure and Cloud Operations; Site Reliability Engineering, Observability and Resiliency; and Identity, Access and Employee Experience. The internship is intended to create a pipeline for future opportunities, including return internships or full-time employment, subject to eligibility, performance, and business needs. The position is full-time, runs from June 1, 2027, through August 6, 2027, and requires working in-office five days per week in Eden Prairie or Minneapolis, Minnesota. Alternate dates are unavailable. Housing assistance may be available to eligible interns. Sponsorship is not available.
