About The Position

Northstrat is seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Engineer to orchestrate and execute over the air (OTA) software deployments to globally fielded systems in a potentially degraded, disconnected, intermittent, and limited (DDIL) connectivity environment. This engineer will be responsible for automating the deployment and security of software, reducing the need for FSR travel while increasing the operational availability of the fleet. Once the software is live, the infrastructure engineer will monitor its health remotely to preempt failures that could impact mission. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, security-focused, and comfortable operating in a hybrid on-premises and cloud environment.

Requirements

  • A DoD TS/SCI clearance is required.
  • CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent) or better.
  • Must have 5+ years of experience in network engineering and systems administration.
  • Strong Linux administration experience in production environments.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms.
  • Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot across network and system layers.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking equipment.
  • Strong proficiency with Docker.
  • Writing Dockerfiles.
  • Building hardened images.
  • Integrating builds into pipelines.
  • Hands-on Kubernetes experience.
  • Cluster operations.
  • Workload management.
  • RBAC.
  • Networking.
  • Troubleshooting.

Nice To Haves

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or better.
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet).
  • Experience with monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Scripting experience (Python, Bash).

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate and execute over the air (OTA) software deployments to globally fielded systems in a potentially degraded, disconnected, intermittent, and limited (DDIL) connectivity environment.
  • Automate the deployment and security of software.
  • Reduce the need for FSR travel while increasing the operational availability of the fleet.
  • Monitor software health remotely to preempt failures that could impact mission.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Manage system services, patching, and updates.
  • Automate tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible.
  • Manage system backups and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot production issues.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Manage VLANs, routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP), and switching technologies.
  • Maintain network segmentation and security controls.
  • Perform firmware upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
  • Monitor network health and performance using SNMP and other tools.
  • Maintain firewall policies and intrusion prevention systems.
