About The Position

The Junior Information Technology Specialist will provide technical and operational support for hardware, software, network systems, and communications infrastructure supporting Navy operations. This position directly supports assigned installations and Command leadership while ensuring reliable and secure IT services. This is an onsite position located at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren, VA, with routine local travel required.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CompTIA Security+ certification within 45 days of employment.
  • Ability to obtain additional Information Assurance (IA) or Operating System certifications within 180 days of hire, if required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of direct IT networking experience.
  • Experience performing network installations, configurations, testing, and support services.
  • Knowledge of network hardware, software, firewalls, and communication systems.
  • Understanding of Information Assurance (IA), cybersecurity principles, and Department of Defense security requirements.
  • Knowledge of operating systems, software applications, network protocols, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to influence and guide users in following Information Assurance procedures and best practices.
  • Primarily sedentary work involving extended periods of sitting.
  • Occasional standing, walking, lifting, and movement of IT equipment.
  • Ability to travel locally to support customer locations as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Current CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Experience supporting NMCI environments.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense or Navy information technology systems.
  • Familiarity with network administration, cybersecurity compliance, and IT service management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical, operational, and systems analysis support.
  • Coordinate, manage, and implement procedures to optimize system performance.
  • Identify, coordinate, and deliver IT services to customers.
  • Monitor systems for performance issues and troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Communicate system outages, interruptions, and maintenance activities to users and leadership.
  • Review data within the NMCI Enterprise Tool (NET) and ensure delivery order accuracy for resource allocation.
  • Support technical refresh initiatives and equipment lifecycle management.
  • Perform NMCI Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs).
  • Assist with installation, configuration, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Support expansion and modernization efforts for network and communications infrastructure.
  • Enforce Information Assurance (IA) policies and assist with investigations involving potential compliance issues.
  • Provide end-user training on hardware, software, and information technology systems.
  • Support daily network operations and customer service requirements.
