About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Information Technology Senior Consultant with an active TS/SCI clearance and Full Scope Polygraph to join our team. This role involves designing, architecting, configuring, deploying, upgrading, and supporting various storage and backup platforms and their associated management tools. You will be responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting storage systems and related technologies, adhering to engineering and architecture standards, and participating in technical review meetings. The position requires participation in the evaluation, deployment, management, and integration of new technologies, as well as providing incident support and participating in an on-call rotation. Key responsibilities include creating and maintaining technical documentation, demonstrating initiative in optimizing systems and processes, overseeing hardware and software installations and updates, and ensuring systems are monitored for capacity, performance, and utilization. The role also involves staying current with storage and backup technology developments to assist in assessing future technology directions.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI w/ Full Scope Polygraph Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)
  • Hands on NetApp experience a MUST
  • Hands-on engineering experience with NetApp and other storage technologies and concepts (Storage Area Network - SAN & Network Attached Storage - NAS)
  • Knowledge and understanding of protocols such as S3, CIFS, NFS, iSCI, and Fiber Channel Block Storage (SAN)
  • Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments (to include Veritas NetBackup, Cohesity, Rubrik, & CommVault)
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments
  • Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies
  • Senior-level experience with the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware platforms and data centers
  • Strong understanding of high availability concepts with practical experience and implementation of key components in storage environments
  • Strong understanding of fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls), iSCSI, Fiber Channel, Ethernet
  • Strong understanding of essential TCP/IP concepts: TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, etc..
  • Experience connecting storage arrays to Hypervisor Technologies (NUTANIX, VMWARE VCF, OpenStack)
  • Understanding of security best practices and federal hardening requirements (FISMA, STIG, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree with fifteen (15) years of relevant experience or bachelor’s degree with twelve (12) years of relevant experience.
  • High school diploma with twenty (20) years of relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, configure, deploy, upgrade, and support various storage and backup platforms and associated management tools
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot storage systems and other related technologies
  • Adhere to engineering and architecture standards and participate in technical review meetings as required
  • Participate in the evaluation, deployment, management, and integration of new technologies in alignment with other engineers, architects, and technical service lanes
  • Provide incident support and participate in on-call rotation during off-hours and weekends
  • Create and maintain documentation: logical/physical diagrams, run books, and other technical engineering documents
  • Demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes
  • Oversee the installation of new storage hardware and software according to standard operating procedures
  • Oversee updates to hardware, operating systems, and software as needed to provide required functionality and security
  • Ensure systems are monitored and statistics relevant to capacity, performance, utilization, etc., are collected and regularly reviewed
  • Keep abreast of current developments in storage and backup technology to assist Federal staff in assessing the future direction of storage and backup technology
