About The Position

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services. This position is with the Agency Services area of DTMB and is responsible for the design, maintenance, development, and enhancement of agency applications. Assignments will provide for the development, testing, and deployment of application releases, updates, and modifications within a client/server and web server environment. Project assignments and activity will be executed within the framework of the State of Michigan System Engineering Methodology (SEM). This Information Technology Programmer/Analyst position supports Medicaid reporting for the Department of Health and Human Services. The position performs a complete range of assignments including, but not limited to, designing, developing, testing, and implementing a variety of automated data warehouse applications located on the State of Michigan’s Teradata data warehouse platform. In addition, this person will work with other data warehouse developers to review existing data warehouse policies and practices, modify them as needed, or propose new policies or practices.

Requirements

  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following is required: SQL, ETL, Data Warehousing, Teradata, Linux, Crystal Reports, and Business Objects.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of an associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.
  • Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or four years (8,320 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.
