About The Position

This is a contracted position within the St. John's County Sheriff's Office and will not be considered an employee nor entitled to any benefits. The Information Technology Operations Technician is responsible for assisting the Information Technology Unit with inquiries and requests for services related to personal computer and peripherals. This position must have sound working knowledge of Agency applications and the ability to troubleshoot problems associated with hardware and software issues. This position should also be able to adapt to new technologies and have a desire to learn and further their knowledge in the field.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Network Certification or College Education
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Advanced knowledge of general office equipment
  • Advanced computer literacy
  • Sound working knowledge of Agency applications
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems associated with hardware and software issues
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies
  • Desire to learn and further knowledge in the field

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and conducts research and preparation of reports, including but not limited to public records, data collection and other analyses
  • Assist management in making decisions on issues where no guidelines or policy exists
  • Inform staff and personnel of actions taken, decisions made and potential problems
  • Monitor compliance of laws, regulations, agency policies and procedures
  • Describe, analyze, interpret facts and events accurately
  • Maintain knowledge and abide by agency policy and regulations
  • Conceptualize and implements programs, projects and initiatives as assigned
  • Compose, generate, and route correspondence and reports
  • Complete, update, and submit required accreditation reports
  • Primary liaison for specialized area
  • Mentors and guides other Specialists in area
  • Assists employees in researching information as requested
  • Continued training/updates/review of applicable laws and best practices
  • Maintain SOP’s
  • Identify future Unit goals and objectives and implements solutions
  • Research and analyze issues- recommends solutions
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Report directly to supervisor
  • Adhere to laws/agency policy/rules/ regulations/SOP/ procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality/security of files and information obtained in the course of employment
  • Process/compile/disseminate record/public record information as directed by approving authority in accordance with lawful requirements
  • Provide assistance to employees and other public and private entities in an effort to meet their needs and build positive community relationships/resolve complaints/address conflicts
  • Maintain continuity and operational efficiency by accurate and timely dissemination of information to Staff and co-workers
  • Adhere to leave, overtime, and attendance policies/procedures (i.e., arrive promptly, regular attendance at work, notification to supervisor regarding absence from work due to illness or untimely incidents, etc.)
