Summary Information Technology Manager, Enterprise Fiber The Information Technology Manager for Enterprise Fiber plays a key role in strengthening APS’s digital backbone and supporting the modernization of the electric grid. This position leads the strategy and deployment of the company’s fiber‑optic network—critical infrastructure that enables reliable operations, innovative customer solutions, and a more resilient and sustainable energy future. By expanding and optimizing APS’s fiber capabilities, this leader helps power communities, connect customers, and advance technologies that keep Arizona’s energy system safe, smart, and ready for tomorrow. What Your Day Would Be Like: Lead the strategy and roadmap for APS’s enterprise fiber network to support grid modernization and operational excellence. Guide the design, buildout, and optimization of fiber connections across substations, control centers, field assets, and customer touchpoints. Manage major fiber initiatives by overseeing budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure strong delivery and long‑term value. Partner with engineering, IT, operations, and external organizations to support SCADA, AMI, grid automation, and other mission‑critical systems. Explore opportunities to lease excess fiber and build partnerships that benefit customers, communities, and APS’s broader mission. Ensure the network remains secure, resilient, and compliant through robust monitoring and disaster‑recovery practices. Who We’re Looking For: Experienced leader with a background in fiber‑optic network design, deployment, and management. Strong collaborator who works effectively across engineering, IT, operations, and external partners. Strategic thinker who can build a long‑term roadmap while navigating technical, regulatory, and business needs. Minimum Requirements Information Technology Manager, Enterprise Fiber BS in Computer Science, Business or related degree or equivalent work experience. PLUS eight to ten (8-10) years progressively responsible related experience in area/s of assignment is required to obtain an advanced understanding of information and/or communication systems, operating systems, network communications, equipment and infrastructure. Demonstrated leadership skills required. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrated high quality oral, written and presentation communication skills, high quality interpersonal and people management skills, and demonstrated experience in project management. Extensive experience in the development, integration, and support of information and communication systems applications, distributed and mainframe environments, network architecture and sub-systems, distributed and mainframe server architectures cross platform interfaces. Extensive experience in information systems methodologies, systems guidelines & architectures, and technologies.
