Working with staff and customers, you’ll determine system requirements and ensure timely service delivery as well as analyze information and/or technology needs of the customer and initiate design, planning, implementation or operations processes necessary to fulfill those needs. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related specialized area or the equivalent experience plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Solid understanding of solutions development methodologies (e.g. DevOps, Agile, Software Development Lifecycle, etc.)
  • Experience with NIST 800.53 / 800.171 Frameworks
  • Experience with Cybersecurity Operational Readiness Audits
  • Experience with managing multi-site employees

  • Expert, extensive understanding of SQL scripts and other scripting languages, such as Java and Python, and able to write complex queries and scripts with batch automation and automation tools.
  • In-depth knowledge on server architecture and understanding of virtualization technologies, storage systems, enterprise security practices, and replication technologies.
  • Proven experience developing solutions to extremely complex, cross-domain, problems requiring significant business acumen, technical knowledge, ingenuity, creativity, and innovation.
  • Advanced experience supporting critical application software (local, network installed and SaaS) to include medium to complex troubleshooting, research, ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, and maintain procedural documentation.
  • In-depth understanding of the Internet and its key configuration components (e.g. DNS, http, IP addressing, Subnetting), and different methods of file transfer (e.g., FTP, SFTP, FTPS, NDM).
  • Able to work independently on large and complex projects and initiatives using a subject matter expert level understanding of the Application Admin discipline.
  • Has ability to evaluate intangibles in the analysis of significant and unique initiatives, situations, alternatives, proposals, designs, architectures, risks, data, systems, and constructs.
  • Proven organizational skills including superior ability to lead initiatives and cross functional projects; a facility to handle multiple tasks and deliverables simultaneously; a track record of exercising independent judgment appropriately; and the ability to quickly understand and execute complex assignments when working on high profile outcomes with inherent risk.
  • Proven track record of being capable of working with significant uncertainty, resistance, barriers, issues, and challenges; converting uncertainty into quantifiable impact, risk, and mitigating actions.
  • Excellent ability to adapt to changing business needs and overcome obstacles.
  • Ability to mentor, guide, and coach junior application administrators.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certification in Six Sigma, Lean, PMI
  • In-depth knowledge of development languages, platforms, and tools preferred.
  • Current application administrator or other related technical certification indicating a degree of appropriate foundational knowledge is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Consults and collaborates with business stakeholders, end users, IT staff, vendors and other third parties and is involved in every phase of an application throughout its lifecycle.
  • Ensures optimal configuration of the application layer for seamless integration with operating systems, databases, middleware, networks, web services, and other technological components.
  • Conducts application health checks to ensure accessibility, server availability, capacity planning, and monitoring scheduled jobs, batch jobs, system alerts, and the status of upstream/downstream feeds.
  • Performs operational support duties such as application maintenance, configuration, patch management, file transfers, performance tuning, account management, and installation of software upgrades.
  • Responds to incident tickets, user inquiries and services requests, updating the records in the ticket management system.
  • Implements job automation, batch jobs, SQL scripts, robotic process automation, AI/ML as appropriate for troubleshooting, automating common, repetitive processes, and to replace manual solutions.
  • Engages with the application vendors to stay abreast of the vendor’s planned changes, existing problems and known errors, corrective action and work around alternatives, and technical support capabilities.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies and best practices.
  • Maintains and updates documentation for system configuration, change control, access control, and system logs, and support.
  • Understands a broad range of customer’s requirements, expectations and operational imperatives for their mission success and translates those business drivers and needs into requirements and actions for continuous enrichment of the user’s experience.
  • Mentors, consults, and otherwise supports the adoption of the application by various stakeholders by providing technical assistance, advice and support, training, and assisting in the proper, efficient and effective use of the application.
  • Leads, plans, and executes projects, small initiatives, internal to the application team.
  • Maintains current knowledge of vendor’s plans and strategic directions for the application including patch releases, minor version releases, major version releases, end-of-life support, new capability enhancements, and upgrade support capabilities.
  • Follows industry trends, evaluate vendor products, and pursue technology innovation to ensure business services are cost competitive and aligned to industry best practices.
  • Leads, plans, and executes medium-size projects and/or cross-functional teams.
  • Incorporates vendor's planned changes, existing problems and known errors, corrective actions and work-around alternatives, and technical support capabilities into solutions and documentation for administrators and end users.
  • Analyzes and triages defects/issues, plans, and manages releases and migrations in different environments and institutes a plan to regularly perform upgrades and vulnerability remediation.
  • Leads, plans, and executes large projects involving cross-functional teams.
  • Manages high risk, high profile, and technically complex projects that may require cross-team collaboration.
  • Some business travel may be required.
