About The Position

Heights Philadelphia is looking for a motivated and self-driven Information Technology (IT) Intern to join our team. The IT Intern will support our IT department in providing hands-on technical assistance, maintaining computer systems, and configuring hardware for our staff and students. The successful candidate will be able to troubleshoot and resolve basic computer hardware issues and assist our IT support team with more complicated fixes. They should be familiar both with a Mac environment and Google Workspace (gmail, google drive, google docs, etc…). This is a summer position (June - August) with potential to extend into the school year (September - May).

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate student with a year of work experience
  • Familiarity with Mac computers and software
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, etc…)
  • Familiarity with network and system security
  • Familiarity with hardware and software installation
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to learn quickly and adapt to changing technology.
  • Must meet expectations to report in-person three days per week on a schedule determined by their direct manager and/or the Vice President of the team.
  • Must meet PA State background check requirements [PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprint Check] at hire and every five years thereafter.
  • Must be able to complete an I-9 employment verification form to work in the United States
  • Strong orientation to customer service, particularly with regard to students, partners and colleagues
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and related applications, as well as use of general office equipment (phones, computers, copiers, etc)
  • Maintains appropriate engagement with data entry, reporting and review.
  • Access to reliable transportation required

Responsibilities

  • Supporting our remote IT support team by acting as the in-person team member who can carry out solutions as directed.
  • Providing technical assistance to staff and students on hardware and software-related issues.
  • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting computer systems, hardware, and software.
  • Troubleshooting system performance issues.
  • Following established procedures and processes for computer maintenance.
  • Preparing laptops for student use and tracking laptop inventory.
  • Researching and recommending solutions for technical problems.
  • Other related duties and projects as assigned.
