About The Position

The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner's Department is seeking an Information Technology Intern. This is an unpaid internship opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain experience in IT support within a law enforcement agency. The Technology Division supports approximately 4,000 employees and over 320 law enforcement applications. Interns will provide staff support with projects related to computer and network infrastructure setup and maintenance, security infrastructure, and application development/support.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school with an emphasis in computer science, information technology, or a related field; or be a recent graduate (within 6 months) who has completed their degree or certification in one of the above fields of study.
• Demonstrate knowledge in their chosen field of study ranging from programming, desktop support, infrastructure, networking, or security.
• Minimum 8 hours per week, in-person.
• Hours must be scheduled in 3- to 8-hour blocks of time during regular business hours (Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.).
• Attach a cover letter, resume, and unofficial transcripts to their application.
• Background investigation will be completed to the satisfaction of the department, which may include a live scan, personal history form, financial check, and criminal history check.
