Information Technology Intern - Cybersecurity (Spring 2027)
About The Position
The Information Technology Intern will report to the Cybersecurity Manager and work with other IT team members in person in our Cincinnati, OH office. This role involves monitoring security events and reviewing logs to identify anomalies and possible incidents within the network. The intern will respond immediately to cybersecurity-related alerts, conduct thorough investigations and analysis, and support the implementation and tuning of network and computer security solutions. Additionally, the intern will perform security assessments, vulnerability testing, risk analysis, research cybersecurity trends, respond to help desk tickets, and conduct daily monitoring of security activities related to email. Throughout the internship, the student will gain hands-on experiential learning in the eight security domains, learn about IT processes and systems, develop documentation and communication skills, and enhance time management abilities in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- A current university student enrolled in a degree seeking program studying Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other closely related field (e.g., digital forensics, network security, etc.)
- Ability to work independently, with direction and guidance, and on a team
- Excellent written and organizational skills with proven ability to balance multiple priorities at once
Responsibilities
- Monitor security events and review logs to identify anomalies and possible incidents within the network
- Respond immediately to cybersecurity-related alerts and provide a thorough investigation and analysis
- Conduct Cybersecurity training, briefings, and presentations for multiple levels of business
- Support the implementation and tuning of network and computer security solutions
- Perform security assessments of applications and systems vulnerability testing and risk analysis
- Research and identify cybersecurity trends and best practices
- Respond to help desk tickets assigned to the cybersecurity team
- Conduct daily monitoring and actioning of security activities related to email
