About The Position

Envision schools seeks an Information Technology Administrator dedicated to educational equity through technology repair, maintenance, and support at our schools. The Information Technology Administrator ensures that our technology infrastructure not only runs smoothly but also empowers our staff and students at: The Envision Support Office, Downtown Oakland Science Academy (DOSA), and East Bay Innovation Academy. The role will be pivotal in diagnosing and resolving technical issues, maintaining our network and hardware, and supporting our educational goals through technology.

Requirements

  • Commitment to the mission of Envision Education.

  • Expertise in Apple hardware and Mac OS, and Google Chrome hardware support, with a strong foundation in networking principles.
  • Proficient in Meraki management, including network configuration, security settings, and device management, to ensure a seamless, secure, and scalable digital environment.
  • Familiarity with audio/visual technology and proficiency in crucial software applications (Google Apps, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Previous experience in educational settings is highly desirable, with a passion for leveraging technology to enhance learning.
  • A proven track record of resourcefulness with a knack for solving complex problems.
  • Once hired, continuous current California residency.
  • Receptiveness to feedback and desire to continuously improve to meet outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, and/or technology certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, Apple)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of computer systems, hardware, software, and network infrastructure to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Manage and optimize wired and wireless networks, firewalls, switches, and wireless components. Perform device management and installation with knowledge of networking and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Administer user accounts and permissions across various platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Jamf). Handle installation, configuration, patching, and maintenance of macOS, ChromeOS, and Windows.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with servers, workstations, and peripherals. Manage software deployment, licensing, and updates.
  • Develop and maintain detailed inventory, documentation, and protocols for all technological assets, ensuring operational excellence and compliance.
  • Provide first-level technical assistance to staff and students with patience, empathy, and a helpful attitude. Utilize our service request system for issue tracking and escalation, focusing on minimizing downtime and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.
  • Move work forward collaboratively across multiple teams, serving as a reliable backup for the IT team and promoting a culture of teamwork and mutual support.
  • Rapidly learn and apply new technologies as the IT landscape evolves, maintaining attention to detail in configuration changes, security management, and troubleshooting.
