About The Position

The Information Services Specialist II assists the Supervisor with the effective operation of the Information Services Department. This role involves researching and responding to customer queries, providing Readers Advisory Services, training the public on library resources and technology, assisting with collection development and maintenance, and planning, promoting, and hosting adult programs. The specialist also participates in community outreach events and monitors the physical environment, interpreting library policies and safety procedures to ensure effective library service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Ability to obtain an LC4 or higher Indiana Librarian Certification (IAC 5-1-8)

Responsibilities

  • Research and respond to customer queries by utilizing the multiple resources of the Library to obtain correct information
  • Provide Readers Advisory Services and train public on use of library resources and available technology, both individually and in group settings
  • Assist Department Supervisor with collection development and maintenance
  • Plan, promote, and host adult programs and participate in community outreach events
  • Monitor the physical environment, interpret library policies and safety procedures, and exercise judgement to provide effective library service
