About The Position

The Information Services Coordinator works with 1 to 3 consortium district members to assist in facilitating organizational responses to district technology, educational, and administration needs, in accordance with the Technology Plan and policies of the St. Joseph County Information Services consortium and LEA Technology Plan and policies. The Information Services Coordinator will play an integral part in the oversight, implementation, security, and support of one or more local school district’s technology services as a part of the St. Joseph County Schools Information Services consortium.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree in computer related field or equivalent education that would be acquired by completing a two year technical trade or a four year college degree program in a computer related field and a minimum of two to four years of successful, related work experience
Highly motivated individual that will take initiative to keep systems and end users working at peak efficiency

Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s), certificate(s), approval(s), etc. and provide documentation to the business office before expiration date of said document(s).

Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals or groups.
Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communications.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Document/demonstrate current knowledge of desktop computers, peripheral equipment, database management, word processing, spreadsheets and open systems technology required.
Demonstrated knowledge of PC basics, including technical terminology and acronyms and working knowledge of PC systems and peripheral connectivity.
Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and demonstrate effective time management skills to meet deadlines.

The employee is regularly required to operate a computer, view video display terminals; reach with hands and arms; sit, use hands and fingers to grip, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; talk and hear.
Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds. (ie: printers, CPUs, monitors, servers, etc.)
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Able to operate a personal motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

Systematically providing advice, guidance and support to all staff in matters pertaining to information access and processing.
Systems administration within the Local Area Network.
Work with the Information Services team to help seamlessly integrate technology into the educational learning process.
Troubleshooting and repairing computer related equipment.
Installation, support, and maintenance of client workstations, servers, networking equipment, software, mobile devices and other instructional technologies.
Maintain and manage local district technology issues using the help desk system.
Must have knowledge of and comply with the St. Joseph County ISD Personnel handbook.
Successfully pass FBI fingerprint analysis and Felony conviction review.
Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
Use the ticket system to create, update and track time for all work done.
Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
Demonstrate unquestionable integrity when dealing with all district personnel.
Promote the use of technology in education and act as consultant to district employees in integrating technology in the delivery of district curriculum, programs and services in coordination with Instructional Technology personnel.
Assist in the selection, purchase/lease, installation, and implementation of technology throughout the district, including client workstations, servers, networking equipment, software, peripherals, and other instructional and administrative technologies.
Facilitate the coordination of training for all support staff and users throughout the district.
Serves as a resource person for systems development, hardware, software and user issues.
Promote legal procurement and use of all software/media supported by the district.
Provide support for Data Governance and best practices to help districts implement and maintain database security and encryption in compliance with the local district and consortium policies.
Maintain district equipment and software inventory using consortium inventory software.
Reviews and responds to end user inquiries from the ticket system regarding system operations, the Coordinator will diagnose hardware, software, internet and end user problems.
Update the end user with status of repair by ticket updates, voice mail, email or in-person communication.
Recommends or performs minor/major remedial actions to correct end user problems.
Creates, updates or modifies knowledge base or documents regarding software and procedures for distribution to end users and technicians.
Coordinates activities with IS Team Members.
Test equipment/software updates to ensure correct functionality and to keep informed of security changes in software and equipment.
Adhere to IS Services team decisions in proper operation, installation and procedures agreed to in SJCISD Standards documentation.
Meet with local district administrators/representatives to discuss current technology needs, problems and future technology systems on a regular basis.
Work with local district Technology Coach and/or St. Joseph County ISD Instructional Leadership Department to ensure a strong leadership in Instructional Technology for teachers in the local districts.
Ensure that current licenses exist and are up to date for all district systems.
Coordinate with other IS Team Members to ensure local district coverage.
Perform project management to ensure local district implementations of new procedures, software, hardware and instruction are completed on time and under budget.
Performs monthly preventative maintenance in cooperation with the network specialist and local IS Support Specialist.
Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to do the job.
Required to have a physical presence at the designated job site each scheduled work day.
Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities not in conflict with applicable laws, Board policy, or conditions of employment as assigned by the Director of Information Services, local district Technology Director or Superintendent(s).
Assign and coordinate helpdesk tickets with local district Systems Specialists to complete and maintain end user support for general repairs and software installs.
Can assign additional tasks as laid out in Systems Specialists job duties and functions.
