About The Position

USAA is seeking an Information Management Analyst I to identify and manage existing and emerging risks related to business activities and their job role. This role involves ensuring risks are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled, and adhering to written risk and compliance policies. The analyst will leverage intermediate data management knowledge to support information management practices, acting as a steward or support for the information steward. Key responsibilities include identifying process improvements, participating in cross-functional team discussions, and contributing to the development of best practices and tools. The role also involves maintaining Information Asset Inventories, ensuring appropriate data classification, and supporting the delivery of information in accordance with Information Governance standards. This includes maintaining the metadata repository, reviewing and validating metadata and data quality information, and developing definitions, data quality rules, thresholds, and standard metrics. The analyst will also develop controls to mitigate data quality risks, including creating data quality plans, implementing rule checks, and monitoring results through reports and dashboards. Documentation and update of data quality corrective action plans are also part of the role. Furthermore, the analyst will support the compliance assessment process by reviewing and documenting failures from data quality compliance assessment checks. They will recommend Master and Reference Data processes and procedures to align with Enterprise Policies and Standards, create and maintain reference data, and manage the quality and maintenance of master data. Support for archiving and purging activities in compliance with legal requirements, in partnership with IT, is also expected, including the development of archiving and purging strategies. The role involves supporting the compliance assessment process by identifying and escalating potential risks to the corporation and managing Data Access security as needed. Additionally, the analyst will support Privacy initiatives through classification, tagging, and analysis of sensitive data, ensuring compliance and remediation of sensitive data according to defined policies and processes. This position may allow for partial telecommute.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business and Information Systems, Computer Science, or related, and 4 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
  • Alternatively, Master’s degree in Business and Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
  • Designing visualizations using Tableau software
  • Publishing dashboards on web and desktop platforms
  • Developing automation and validation of key control data
  • Applying quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and produces insight for the Bank
  • Information Governance RAMs, KRIs and KPIs
  • Information Governance Catalog – for Metadata and Data Lineage management, and designation of Authoritative Data Sources
  • Supporting Stewardship activities including Business Metadata, tagging Metadata to Technical Metadata and Report Metadata
  • Establishing the framework, Process, SOP, and training to enable the different LOB's to identify Critical Data Elements (CDEs)
  • Working with and capturing business and technical metadata for Critical Data Elements (CDEs)
  • Maintaining Information Asset Inventories
  • Executing and identifying opportunities to strengthen Controls
  • Translating business needs and usage to technical specifications (including calculations and observations)

Responsibilities

  • Develop definitions, data quality rules, thresholds, and standard metrics of quality for data elements that support critical business processes.
  • Develop controls to mitigate data quality risks including data quality plan development, implementing data quality rule checks, monitoring data quality results, reports and dashboards, as appropriate.
  • Document and update data quality corrective action plans.
