About The Position

Benesch is seeking an Information Governance Specialist for its New York office. This newly created role is perfect for an experienced digital professional who will be the point person in the New York office for all matters relating to the flow of confidential data in and out of Benesch. The Information Governance Specialist is responsible for the intake, management, protection, retention, transfer, and disposition of data across the Firm. This position requires strong confidentiality and digital technology skills and involves collaboration with the Firm's Risk Management Department, IT Department, and Cybersecurity Department.

Requirements

  • At least 3-4 years' of law firm or records experience.
  • Highly organized.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent customer service attitude.
  • Experience migrating data in and out of iManage.
  • Digital technology experience.
  • Strong confidentiality skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the management of digital data, including, but not limited to, the bulk import and export of files into and out of iManage, network shares, SaaS platforms such as Citrix ShareFile and email archive.
  • Assists the Information Governance Mobility Analyst with attorney onboarding and departures, collaborating with the Records and Information Governance Manager.
  • Transfers electronic client matter files to external parties in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assists in the establishment of policies and procedures to manage data on network shares that promote industry best practices and are in line with other Firm policies and procedures.
  • Assists with the administration of Firm collaboration and file sharing tools.
  • Promotes operational efficiency and provides a high level of customer service.
  • Observes confidentiality of client and Firm matters.
  • Executes data retention and destruction initiatives and projects.
  • Assists with the digitization of hard copy files.
  • Provides individual and special records and information governance project request services as needed.
  • Proficient in all department and Firm software.
  • Demonstrates excellent client service and communication skills.
  • Maintains a complete understanding of Firm policies and goals and fosters and embraces the Benesch culture.
  • Performs other records and information governance duties as assigned.
