About The Position

Latham & Watkins is seeking an Information Governance Matter Mobility Review Analyst to join their Global Information Governance (IG) team. This role is crucial for conducting file release and intake document reviews, supporting the workflow of a team that assists staff and attorneys with file transfers into and out of the firm. The analyst will provide centrally coordinated document review support to Practice Office IG Operations teams and assist with matter mobility review activities, ensuring accuracy and efficiency with minimal supervision. This position is based in the Global Services Office in downtown Los Angeles and may offer a hybrid work schedule after the initial two weeks.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of information governance, data security and privacy principles, best practices, and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Thorough knowledge of the physical and electronic resources of the department and firm.
  • A bachelor’s degree; three (3) years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant records and information management experience, preferably at a law firm.
  • Experience in other law firm positions having significant document organizational responsibilities may be considered in lieu of directly related Information Governance or Records experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting file release and file intake document reviews.
  • Supporting the workflow of a team that assists staff and attorneys across the firm with file transfers into and out of the firm.
  • Providing centrally coordinated document review support to Practice Office IG Operations teams.
  • Assisting with matter mobility review activities, ensuring reviews are completed accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Developing plans, organizing files and work-flow, and assuming responsibility for the completion of review projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with policies and ensuring completion of the matter mobility process; responding to questions, and providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Exercising judgment in ensuring that firm policies and procedures are followed, and understanding how ethical and legal obligations impact the storage, organization, and transfer of data in a global environment.
  • Advising attorneys, legal professionals and staff about information management best practices, data privacy and security issues, and other risk management issues.
  • Communicating effectively with the Lateral Partner Onboarding team and other teams outside of IG that play a role in the Matter Mobility process.
  • Working with relevant Technology department personnel to properly configure and conduct IG-related reviews using litigation support applications.
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains.
