About The Position

Spirit Defense is seeking motivated, enthusiastic, and innovative students to join their 2027 intern program. Spirit Defense applies innovative engineering, advanced manufacturing, and rapid prototyping to solve complex challenges across the defense and space industries. Interns will gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced professionals on real-world aerospace challenges. They will have the opportunity to work directly with a mentor, gain exposure to aerospace products, manufacturing operations, engineering processes, and business systems, collaborate with leaders, build a professional network, and develop skills for a career in the aerospace and defense industry.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate or graduate degree program.
Ability to work full-time during Summer 2027.
Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
Must be able to work onsite in Wichita, KS.

Nice To Haves

Passion for the aerospace and defense industry with an interest in building a career with Spirit Defense.
Academic excellence (GPA of 3.0 or higher).
Previous related internship or work experience and/or involvement with student or civic organizations.
Majoring in one of the following: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, Electrical Engineering, or other related fields.
The ability to relocate and work onsite.

Responsibilities

Support secure technology environments used by defense and space programs.
Assist with applications, systems, cybersecurity, infrastructure, data, automation, or technical project activities.
Learn how digital technology is deployed and protected in a mission-focused aerospace environment.
Potential assignments include secure application and systems support, cybersecurity and information protection, infrastructure, network, and endpoint technologies, and data analytics, reporting, automation, and technical project support.
