Spirit Defense - Summer 2027 Internship Program (Paid) - Finance
About The Position
Spirit Defense is seeking motivated, enthusiastic, and innovative students to join their 2027 intern program. Spirit Defense applies innovative engineering, advanced manufacturing, and rapid prototyping to solve complex challenges across the defense and space industries. Interns will gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced professionals on real-world aerospace challenges. During the summer internship, interns will have the opportunity to work directly with a mentor, gain exposure to aerospace products and operations, collaborate with leaders, build a professional network, and develop skills for a career in the aerospace and defense industry.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate or graduate degree program
- Ability to work full-time during Summer 2027
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Must be able to work 100% onsite in Wichita, KS.
Nice To Haves
- Passion for the aerospace and defense industry with an interest in building a career with Spirit Defense
- Academic excellence (GPA of 3.0 or higher)
- Previous related internship or work experience and/or involvement with student or civic organizations
- Majoring in one of the following: Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or other related fields
- The ability to relocate and work onsite
Responsibilities
- Support financial planning, analysis, reporting, and program execution for defense and space work.
- Assist with budgets and forecasts, cost and schedule performance, program financial reporting, accounting analysis, estimates, and business decision support.
- Work with program management, contracts, supply chain, and operations.
- Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Program cost and financial performance reporting.
- Accounting, estimates, and financial controls.
- Data analysis and decision support for defense programs.
