About The Position

This role is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and monitoring key performance metrics and Hub operations data for the clinical pathway, and sharing this information with the Regional Continuous Improvement Lead Organization. The position also involves maintaining a services directory for the clinical pathway and developing a process to ensure its accuracy. The Informatics Support Specialist will coordinate and participate in the selection, analysis, design, planning, risk assessment, implementation, training, maintenance, support, and upgrade of Central Intake systems using best practice project initiatives. They will monitor issues affecting patient care, identify opportunities for efficiency in Medical Imaging, and participate in the quality and data management of patient data in imaging applications. The role requires developing strategies to ensure data privacy and protection according to government and organizational policies, aligning improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan, and participating in education related to health and safety legislation. The position also involves educating and promoting health, safety, and wellness in the workplace, and representing the department on committees.

Requirements

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) as a Medical Radiation Technologist (Radiography (R), Nuclear Medicine (NM), or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)), Medical Sonographer (DMS) or Radiation Therapy (T) is required.
  • Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in a Clinical Support department within a health care environment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with a Hospital Information System (HIS).
  • Demonstrated superior knowledge of Medical Imaging workflows.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Meditech Expanse modules.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standards, Health Level Seven International (HL7), and the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
  • Demonstrated knowledge in areas of professional practice, theoretical frameworks of care delivery, and documentation and trends in health care.
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment and proven analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of quality improvement methodology for process improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information systems.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage routine correspondence, multiple tasks/projects, diversified workload and rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines.
  • Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidential information.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
  • Ability to meet the physical and sensory demands of the job.
  • Ability to travel between local sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of post-graduate informatics training courses are preferred.
  • Experience with e-referral systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
  • Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
