About The Position

The Public Health Institute at Denver Health (PHIDH) is recruiting for a board-certified adult Infectious Diseases physician with experience and a strong interest in an academic career focused on treating patients with sexually transmitted infections and people with HIV. The primary clinical responsibilities are providing attending coverage in the Denver Sexual Health Clinic (DSHC) and the Infectious Diseases (ID) Clinic at Denver Health. The DSHC is the largest sexual health clinic in a multistate region. It provides comprehensive sexual health services including family planning. The ID Clinic is one of Colorado’s largest providers of primary care to people with HIV and provides the full spectrum of outpatient care for other infectious diseases. Both clinics focus on innovation, continuous quality improvement, research, teaching, and expert consultation. Additional clinical responsibilities include attending coverage on the inpatient infectious diseases consult service. The position has opportunities for professional growth and academic advancement through research, education, and leadership. PHIDH physicians also have faculty appointments at the University of Colorado.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Degree Graduation from an Accredited Medical School and completed Accredited Residency Programs and fellowships for specialist, or equivalent.
  • MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques.
  • Skill in eliciting history from patients, performing physical exams, formulating assessments, and determining treatment plans for patients.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in the treatment of infectious diseases.
  • Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels, and value systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts clinical activities as defined in the privileging documents for this provider and delivers superior patient care by: Determining and assessing the health status of patients by reviewing records, taking comprehensive medical histories, and performing physical examinations.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the medical condition of patient.
  • Making decisions regarding treatment changes and referring patient to specialized services as needed.
  • Applying thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Encouraging increased patient understanding and involvement in care.
  • Initiates, performs, or directs other healthcare professionals to perform screenings and diagnostic tests.
  • Serves as a teacher for students seeking clinical experience at Denver Health and provides education for post graduate medical trainees.
  • Provides leadership to improve outcomes and service quality.
  • Works to ensure personnel, department, and organization are in compliance with all legal and educational requirements.
