About The Position

This is a full-time position for an Infectious Disease Fellow at WFBMG University Group Practice, WFBMC Main. The role involves participating in safe, effective, and compassionate patient care, developing an understanding of ethical, socioeconomic, and medical-legal issues affecting graduate medical education, and applying cost containment measures. The fellow will also participate in educational activities, teach and supervise other residents and students, and engage in institutional orientation and education programs. Additionally, the position requires participation in institutional committees and adherence to the established practices, procedures, and policies of WFBMC and its programs.

Requirements

  • Graduates of medical schools in the United States and Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) and successful completion of any prerequisite accredited training specified by ACGME Residency Review Committees.
  • Some programs require successful passage of board exams (or good faith effort to pass) for promotion through subsequent years of fellowship.
  • Current BLS certificate plus other advanced competencies as deemed necessary for level of training, (ACLS, ATLS, PALS, etc.) to become involved in direct patient care.
  • Significant grasp of the challenging issues facing medical science and education today, as well as the dynamics of leading and operating a major medical school department within the confines of an integrated academic health system.
  • Track record of establishing and maintaining an organizational climate that models inclusion, transparency, mutual respect, openness and clarity of purpose.
  • This includes a visible comfort with a desire to interact with people at all levels in the organizations.
  • Given the fully integrated nature of WFBMC, the ability to provide leadership across the institutional landscape and to interact in a highly collaborative way with basic science and clinical chairs.
  • Creative thinking, with a high-energy, open leadership style.
  • Comprehensive communication skills with varied stakeholders and the ability to lead by example.
  • Appreciative style of inquiry in approach to work with a ready empathy for diverse constituencies.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in safe, effective and compassionate patient care.
  • Develops an understanding of ethical, socioeconomic and medical-legal issues that affect graduate medical education, and how to apply cost containment measures in the provision of patient care.
  • Participates in the educational activities of the training program, and as appropriate, assumption of responsibility for teaching and supervising other residents and students.
  • Participates in institutional orientation and education programs and other activities involving the clinical staff.
  • Participates in institutional committees and councils to which the house staff physician is appointed or invited.
  • Performs duties in accordance with the established practices, procedures and policies of WFBMC and those of its programs, clinical departments and other institutions to which the resident physician is assigned including, among others, state licensure requirements for physicians in training.
