The Infection Preventionist is responsible for infection prevention, control, and education at an individual entity level to support a robust Quality and Safety program. This role serves as a member of the patient care team, conducting patient reviews, analyzing clinical care, and promoting appropriate care processes to prevent hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). The individual will develop, deliver, monitor, and reinforce educational programs related to infection prevention and control methods, and coordinate infection prevention and control process improvement projects. Working within the Quality and Safety department, this role collaborates with facility leadership, Mission Partners, nursing, medical staff, and others across the Ministry to ensure continuous regulatory readiness and equip Mission Partners with the tools and skills needed for zero harm. The position assists in implementing processes and key initiatives that support strategic patient safety goals and optimal health outcomes, including the ministry-wide clinical agenda. Responsibilities include identifying and reporting communicable diseases and extremely drug-resistant organisms to health departments as required, investigating emergent or unusual clusters and pathogens, and consulting with health departments, the Ministry Director of Infection Prevention and Control, and entity leadership. The role also involves serving on infection prevention and control councils and participating in the development, review, and management of Infection Prevention and Control policies/procedures and the annual plan.
