The role involves working collaboratively with Infection Prevention and Control staff under leadership, to accomplish the goals and objective of the Infection Prevention program for Sanford USD Medical Center and South Network locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an Associate’s degree and 5 years of applicable experience may be considered
  • Minimum of two years experience in clinical, nursing, healthcare safety, infection prevention, accreditation or healthcare management setting required
  • If a licensed registered nurse (RN), currently hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
  • Possess a basic understanding and working knowledge of microbiology and epidemiology
  • Understand or be willing to learn computer programs and applications necessary for data collection and analysis
  • Possess good interpersonal skills as well as willingness to seek out new information and knowledge
  • Able to think critically and problem solve effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) credentials or equivalent
  • Experience working with South Network locations
  • If degree is in nursing, graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA)

Responsibilities

  • Evaluation of infection control trends, practices, and provision of educational programs for employees
  • Surveillance of health care associated infections and reportable illness
  • Evaluation and reporting of statistical information
  • Consultation on asepsis, disinfection, sterilization, isolation, disease transmission and related issues
  • Monitoring compliance standards and regulations, strategies, and evidence-based aspects
  • Evaluation and improvement of performance of patient/resident outcomes
  • Assistance with research needs and special projects as assigned
