The NC Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology ( SPICE ) promotes prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections in North Carolina and beyond by providing evidence based infection control education and consultation across the healthcare spectrum throughout the state. SPICE will be responsible for conducting infection control assessments for a variety of healthcare settings to identify infection prevention gaps that may be present. The primary purpose of this Infection Preventionist to collect, assess, measure and analyze the ability of hospitals, nursing homes, and ambulatory care clinics to prevent and manage healthcare-associated infections and outbreaks of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. This position will assist with addressing gaps in infection prevention practices in a variety of healthcare facilities, develop infection prevention guidance targeted to all healthcare facilities, and facilitate more robust healthcare readiness for high consequence infectious disease threats including SARS CoV-2.
