Infection Control Nurse
About The Position
Countryside Mental Health is seeking an Infection Control Nurse in Topeka, Kansas. The nurse will help protect the health and well-being of patients and staff by preventing and controlling the spread of infections in the facility. The organization provides a maintenance program for individuals with mental illness. The role focuses on developing and maintaining infection control policies and procedures, conducting surveillance and audits, identifying and investigating infection risks, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and educating staff on infection control practices. The nurse will also participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Kansas.
- Experience in infection control and/or nursing leadership.
- Strong knowledge of infection control principles and guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain infection control policies, procedures, and standards.
- Conduct regular surveillance and monitoring of hospital-acquired infections, as well as infection control audits and inspections.
- Identify, investigate, and report potential infection control breaches, risks, and incidents.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and multidisciplinary teams to support compliance with infection control guidelines and develop and implement infection control plans.
- Provide staff education and training on infection control best practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
