About The Position

Babilou Family US is seeking a Certified Teacher to create and lead a safe, nurturing, and sustainable learning environment where children develop curiosity, confidence, and responsibility. The teacher designs and implements high-quality curriculum, guides the teaching team, and models sustainable education practices that support children’s learning and long-term well-being. The role applies developmentally appropriate practice and builds strong partnerships with children, families, and colleagues, guided by the company’s research-based Sustainable Education® approach and HONOR values: Humility, Open-Mindedness, Nurture, Ownership, and Recognition. The teacher leads classroom operations, supports children’s development through observation and documentation, and supervises children across classroom activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor exploration. The role also includes communicating with families, supporting community involvement, maintaining certifications, participating in professional learning, and coaching Assistant Teachers. The school operates year-round, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Commitment to sustainable education practices and environmental stewardship.
Active teaching certification as required by state licensing.
Experience teaching young children in a childcare or educational setting.
Knowledge of child development, curriculum design, and classroom safety standards.
Ability to lead classroom operations and mentor support staff.
Complete a background check as required by the Department of Early Education and Care.
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, up to 75 percent of the workday.
Ability to transition among sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, and squatting throughout the day.
Ability to safely lift, carry, and move items up to 30 pounds.
Ability to sit on the floor and participate in age-appropriate activities, including light running and outdoor play supervision.
Comfort working in a dynamic, sometimes noisy environment with frequent interruptions and movement between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Ability to supervise children across playgrounds, classrooms, hallways, entryways, and common areas.
Ability to respond quickly and safely in emergencies and follow and model safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Experience integrating sustainability, nature-based learning, or eco-conscious practices into classroom settings.
Specialized training in early learning curriculum, child assessment, or instructional leadership.

Responsibilities

Design and implement daily lesson plans and learning experiences aligned with developmentally appropriate practice and sustainable education principles.
Lead classroom organization and routines that promote environmental responsibility, mindful material use, and stewardship habits.
Model best practices for the teaching team and ensure high-quality instructional delivery.
Supervise children during learning activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor exploration.
Serve as a Mandated Reporter, recognizing, documenting, and immediately reporting suspected child abuse, neglect, or endangerment as required by state law.
Support each child’s developmental needs through observation and documentation, using findings to guide instruction and promote holistic growth.
Build trusting relationships with families through consistent, professional, sustainability-minded communication.
Lead or participate in conferences, family events, and community learning opportunities.
Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing training, including sustainability-focused professional learning.
Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen classroom systems, curriculum implementation, and school sustainability initiatives.
Coach and support Assistant Teachers in instructional practices and environmentally responsible classroom routines.
