About The Position

The assistant teacher supports the lead teacher in planning and leading age-appropriate activities that foster children’s learning and development. This role involves supervising and engaging with children in a safe, caring, and supportive manner, providing individual or small group support, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment. The assistant teacher will also assist in preparing materials for lessons and activities, and support children during daily routines such as meals and nap times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year previous experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of child development
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Nurturing and attentive demeanor
  • Must meet licensing and background check requirements
  • Employee Health and Safety Trainings
  • CPR & first aid
  • Child abuse training
  • Communicable disease training
  • Required OCCRA trainings

Nice To Haves

  • CDA, associate's degree or higher in early childhood education or a related field preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR preferred
  • Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual or small group support to children as needed, promoting social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, ensuring safety and cleanliness standards are met.
  • Assist in planning and preparing materials for lessons, activities, and projects.
  • Ensure children's well-being by following established health and safety protocols.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers about their child's progress, behavior, and well-being.
  • Support children during meals, nap times, and other daily routines.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and enforce rules in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
