Requirements

  • Associate's degree, Bachelors’ degree and a Professional Education License, or a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • 36+ college credits in early childhood education if the degree is in a related field.
  • At least 19 years old.
  • Obtain Illinois Gateway ECE Credential Level 5 within 6 months to 1 year.
  • Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies, and classroom management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Complete background clearance, physical, and TB test.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.
  • Adhere to the Agency’s Code of Ethics and conduct all responsibilities in accordance with the standards outlined in the Employee Handbook.

  • 1-8 years of experience in a childcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Head Start Performance Standards, State Licensing Standards, and Division Policies and Procedures.
  • Act as delegate for Site Supervisor when needed.
  • Conduct community recruitment for the program.
  • Ensure active supervision and safety of children at all times.
  • Maintain and rotate classroom materials and supplies.
  • Collaborate with staff and parents to develop individualized goals for children.
  • Maintain comprehensive assessment portfolios for each child.
  • Facilitate weekly planning meetings and implement IEP/IFSP.
  • Conduct home visits and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Provide social and emotional support, and implement curriculum with intentional teaching experiences.
  • Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.
