About The Position

This is a professional position responsible for supervising daily functions of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultants (IECMHCs). This role is responsible for providing administrative and reflective supervision. Assists and makes recommendations to upper management staff for program design and implementation and for related personnel management and budgetary issues. Collaborates with Center leaders and Managers from other departments to support prevention and early intervention services for early childhood population, including social-emotional development and/or infant mental health.

Requirements

Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related human service field required.
At least one year of formal or informal supervisory experience.
At least three years of experience working with children in a mental health/human services facility.
At least one year of experience in the prevention/early intervention services of early childhood population, including social-emotional development and/or infant mental health population.
Substantial clinical knowledge and experience related to mental health and professional consultation.
Knowledge of how mental health professionals and their specific expertise contribute to mental health and developmental disability service delivery.
Knowledge of Head Start standards related to mental health.
Demonstrates ability to set and meet outcome objectives.
Ability to work cooperatively with all program staff and support services personnel.
Ability to advance plan and organize time and workload effectively.
Ability to assist families in crisis.
Ability to problem solve and make decisions, especially during crisis situations.
Must have a working knowledge of all SFS programs.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, function independently, and demonstrate good follow-through.
Ability to work positively and productively as a member of a team with colleagues, supervisors, and agency staff.
Knowledge of community mental health treatment programs and their continuum of care.
Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices including personnel and systems management.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Computer literate: experience with Microsoft Office at a minimum.

Nice To Haves

A current, valid State of Michigan professional license preferred.
Infant Mental Health Endorsement preferred.
Infant Mental Health and relationship-focused intervention knowledge preferred.
Experience with electronic medical records and Head Start data software (i.e. ChildPlus) preferred.
Ability to work on site a minimum of 3 days per week across several locations.

Responsibilities

Overseeing Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation programming in Early Childhood Education departments.
Serving as the first line supervisor to professional staff for the entire service site as needed.
Monitoring compliance with Office of Head Start Performance Standards, policies and procedures as well as agency-specific practices.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of mental health consulting in ECE centers; developing and implementing processes and procedures to enhance effectiveness and operational efficiency where needed.
Overseeing the implementation of mental health-informed parenting programming (i.e., ParentCorps) at ECE centers.
Assisting and making recommendations to upper management for program design and implementation and for related personnel management and budgetary issues.
Supervising work of professional, paraprofessional, and student intern personnel engaged in direct service work with staff, clients, and families utilizing both administrative and reflective supervision.
Contributing to the development and/or implementation of appropriate supportive strategies for ECE teachers, staff, children, and families.
Scheduling activities of assigned employees; providing training/direction and evaluation to employees.
Assisting in developing operating budgets and ensuring program area operates within it.
Recommending appropriate action for disciplinary matters and ensuring employee and programmatic compliance with Office of Head Start, Performance Standards, and agency policies/procedures.
Working with support services team including supervisor and manager to ensure program needs are met.
Acting as liaison to external stakeholders (e.g., service organizations, referral sources, funding and regulatory bodies).
Participating in public relations/marketing activities as needed.
Hiring, training, coaching, supervising, evaluating, and terminating assigned staff and interns as needed.
Ensuring that Starfish Family Services has a positive relationship with all community groups, organizations, and programs through direct contact and supervision of employees and interns.
Participating in agency meetings, training, and other agency functions as needed or requested.
Cooperating in any investigation related to personnel, licensing, accreditation, or other circumstances.
Performing other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management or required by the team.
