About The Position

This is an entry-level position for an Industrial Plumber/Steamfitter responsible for installing and repairing pipes, fixtures, and valves for various systems including water, gas, steam, and air. The role involves collaborating with other trades, performing inspections, testing systems, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and building codes. The position also requires operating equipment like scissor lifts, boom lifts, and forklifts, and utilizing a CMMS work order system and Building Management System.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• 1-year basic plumbing work experience
• Valid Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

• 2-years commercial plumbing work experience
• Plumbing training certificate from BOCES Votec or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Installs and repairs pipes, fixtures, and valves for water, gas, steam, and air systems.
• Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation.
• Assembles fittings and valves for installation.
• Modifies length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed.
• Uses saws and pipe cutters as necessary.
• Installs heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters.
• Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing systems.
• Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts.
• Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems.
• Analyses problems and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair.
• Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.
• Works at heights in scissor lifts and boom lifts.
• Operates fork trucks for material movement and unloading of deliveries.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Orders materials and parts for job execution.
• Uses current CMMS work order system to process and complete job assignments.
• Accesses Building Management System to review HVAC systems and make changes if needed.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
