About The Position
This is an entry-level position for an Industrial Plumber/Steamfitter. The role involves installing and repairing pipes, fixtures, and valves for various systems including water, gas, steam, and air. Responsibilities include preparing for installation by setting up supports, assembling fittings and valves, and modifying pipe lengths as needed. The job also entails installing heating and air-conditioning systems, collaborating with other trades, performing inspections, testing systems for leaks, and ensuring compliance with health, safety standards, and building codes. Additional duties include working at heights, operating forklifts, maintaining equipment, ordering materials, using the CMMS work order system, and accessing the Building Management System for HVAC adjustments. Miscellaneous job-related duties are also assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1-year basic plumbing work experience
- Valid Driver’s License
Nice To Haves
- 2-years commercial plumbing work experience
- Plumbing training certificate from BOCES Votec or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Installs & repairs pipes, fixtures, and valves, for water, gas, steam, and air systems.
- Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation.
- Assembles fittings and valves for installation.
- Modifies length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed.
- Uses saws and pipe cutters as necessary.
- Installs heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters.
- Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing systems.
- Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts.
- Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems.
- Analyses problem and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair.
- Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.
- Work at heights in scissor lifts and boom lifts
- Operate fork trucks for material movement and unloading of deliveries
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
- Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
- Order materials and parts for job execution
- Use current CMMS work order system to process and complete job assignments
- Access Building Management System to review HVAC systems and make changes if needed
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
