About The Position
Under general supervision, this role involves the layout, design, installation, assembly, fabrication, maintenance, testing, and repair of mechanical utility piping systems and chillers. This includes systems for hot water, chilled water, steam, compressed air, sewer, chemicals, fuel oil, gasses, and other related systems, all while adhering to local and state codes. The position requires reading and understanding system prints and schematics. Additionally, the role demands the ability to move and work in confined spaces, ascend and descend ladders, and work from ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lift platforms.
Requirements
- AAS degree in Mechanical or Plant Utilities Technology
- AOS degree in HVAC or Construction & Maintenance
- Military Training Course in related field
- Journeyman Steamfitter
Nice To Haves
- 3 years’ work experience in a Manufacturing Facility (with references)
- 3 years proven experience in Commercial HVAC service and installation.
- Pipe Welding certifications
- Licensed Plumber in NYS
- 5+ Years in a manufacturing facility
- Experience with underground piping
- Backflow preventer certification
- EPA Refrigerant certification
Responsibilities
- Installs & repairs pipes, fixtures, and valves, for water, gas, steam, and air systems.
- Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation on generator units.
- Assembles fittings and valves for installation.
- Modifies length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed.
- Uses saws and pipe cutters as necessary.
- Installs heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters.
- Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing systems.
- Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts.
- Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems.
- Analyses problem and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair.
- Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.
- Work at heights in scissor lifts and boom lifts
- Operate fork trucks for material movement and unloading of deliveries
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
- Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
