About The Position

Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking an Industrial Painter to support a government contract based in Kings Bay, Georgia. The position requires knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint for various indoor and outdoor applications. The work involves cleaning, preserving, and preparing a multitude of surfaces such as metal, wood, gypsum, stucco, aluminum, galvanized, and fiberglass. This includes preparing surfaces on equipment, cranes, buildings, structures, offices, and machinery using various hand tools like sandblasting equipment, chippers, sanders, grinders, putt knives, and drills. The role also involves applying coatings with brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other equipment to achieve desired results in color, coating, film thickness, coverage, and protection. The painter must be able to position and operate sandblasting equipment, including compressors, receivers, water separators, filters, sandblasting pots, hoses, and blast hoses. Mixing colors, oils, and thinners to achieve proper consistency may also be required. This role generally requires rounded training and experience, typically acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years journeyman experience in the painting field within the last eight years.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of spray painting and sandblasting equipment, including all tools common to corrosion control.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in patch and painting techniques for interior painting.
  • Thorough knowledge of paints, thinner, and lacquers and good color perception.
  • Ability to read and comprehend mix ratios and minimum surface preparation as required by paint manufacturers.
  • Ability to work with protective coatings including thinners, lacquers, epoxies, cleaners, inorganic zinc coatings, polyamide epoxy coatings, aliphatic polyurethanes, and epoxy mastic coatings.
  • Ability to work at various heights up to 150 feet, including work from mechanical lifting devices.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Have and wear hard-toed safety shoes which meet ASTM F2413-0S standards.
  • Agree to be able to wear a close-fitting respirator (requires the absence of facial hair that would interfere with the respirator seal).
  • Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
