About The Position

Oertel Metal Works, a custom metal fabrication company established in 1988, is seeking an Industrial Painter for its finishing team in Davenport, Iowa. The Painter will be responsible for preparing and painting fabricated metal products according to customer specifications and Oertel's quality standards. This role involves the entire finishing process, from surface preparation to final packaging for shipment. The company emphasizes a safe and productive work environment where employees can develop their skills and take pride in quality craftsmanship.

Requirements

• Previous experience with liquid coatings.
• Experience preparing surfaces through cleaning, masking, sanding or grinding.
• Ability to accurately mix and apply paints and coatings.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
• Ability to follow customer specifications, work instructions and established processes.
• Comfortable working with hand tools, pneumatic equipment, industrial spray guns and chemical products.
• Ability to work independently while also being a strong team member.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical requirements of the position.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Preparing surfaces through cleaning, masking, sanding, or grinding.
• Mixing and applying liquid coatings using industrial spray equipment.
• Completing touch-ups on painted parts.
• Packaging finished parts for shipment.
• Cleaning and maintaining painting equipment.
• Moving and staging materials.
• Keeping the work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Becoming fork truck certified.

• Additional "per hour" 3rd Shift, Shift Differential paid on top of the base hourly rate.
