About The Position

The Painter Technician is responsible for preparing and painting components and parts to quality and safety standards to prepare for shipping. This role requires knowledge of safe work practices, paint waste disposal, clean-up guidelines, and paint storage guidelines. The technician will also be responsible for disassembling and reassembling paint guns, assisting with troubleshooting paint systems, and understanding general painting practices. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to communicate effectively with peers and leaders, and knowledge of quality inspection. The painter must maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations. They must understand the equipment, standards, and general manufacturing practices in the Generator enclosure and power switchgear product areas, identify and follow proper procedures for non-conforming material, and assist in tracking and recording non-conforming reports (NCRs). Communication and cooperation with engineering, manufacturing, and quality departments are essential for quality compliance and continual product improvement. The painter's main responsibility is to prepare parts and/or assemblies for painting, mix and apply primer and topcoat paint to meet company quality and safety standards, and inspect wet and dry paint mill thickness. They will monitor material levels, report shortages, ensure equipment is maintained and cleaned, and communicate with paint vendors and supervisors for process improvements and to report material shortages and equipment needs. Level 1 performance expectations include being trained on loading and unloading the Powder Coat Line, demonstrating competency in reading applicable documents with fine attention to detail, completing work in a timely fashion, and being knowledgeable about all required department procedures.

Requirements

HS diploma or equivalency preferred. A combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
Previous painting experience, 6 months – 5 years, mixing and applying an automotive grade, three-part epoxy paint on small and large assemblies required.
Ability to read and communicate in English.
Ability to read and interpret documents, work instructions, UL Standard, written directions.
Ability to use the computer and enter information in database.
Knowledge of measurement tools, tape measures.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Knowledge of safe work practices.
Knowledge of paint waste disposal and clean up guidelines.
Knowledge of paint storage guidelines.
Ability to communicate and discuss issues with peers and leaders.
Knowledge of quality inspection.
Excellent organizational skills.
Must comply with legal regulations.
Must be able to understand the equipment, the standards, and general manufacturing practices in the Generator enclosure and power switchgear product areas.
Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and manipulate heavy test equipment and cables.
Manual dexterity to operate digital equipment, including computers and PLC’s, protective relays, controllers, and other such equipment with small fine buttons and operators.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be fully engaged in the Powder Coat/Paint environment.
Required to stand and walk on manufacturing floor throughout the day.
