Position Summary: An intern supports the assigned design department by assisting with a variety of tasks, including special project assignments and active participation in project design and documentation, to gain practical experience and support their educational development. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.
Requirements
- Full-time student currently pursuing an ABET accredited undergraduate degree in engineering
- Familiarity in using standard Microsoft Office for document creation and email communication
- Ability to prepare well organized, clear, and concise written materials
- Ability to support work with attention to detail and creativity
- Developing presentation skills, including communicating ideas to different groups
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively with guidance from supervisors
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate well with others
Nice To Haves
- Coursework in a related field
- Previous internship or relevant work experience
- Familiarity with design and production software, with the ability to use these tools to develop project documents and collaborate with project team members
Responsibilities
- Assist senior or lead engineers, project managers, designers with basic design tasks, including research, simple studies, and layout support
- Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, graphics, design development, and construction phases
- Support the creation of presentation and marketing materials
- Assist with construction phase activities, including participating in site visits, supporting RFI responses, reviewing shop drawings, and helping update record drawings
- Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed
- Learn and apply department and company standards and best practices
- Develop basic design, analysis, and technical skills through hands-on experience
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members
- Receive guidance and direction from supervisors and team leaders
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and other multidisciplinary team members
- Perform other related duties as assigned
