About The Position

Participates in the maintenance function of supporting the processing lines by performing mechanical duties on industrial equipment. Uses blue prints, schematics, and other Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID’s) to install, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot processing equipment and machinery such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines equipment. Informs supervisory personnel about maintenance requirements and parts/supplies needed to repair equipment. Helps train others on the maintenance team.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Welding Skills.
  • Hand Tools.
  • Machine Shop Knowledge
  • Effective Verbal and Written Communication Skills.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and adheres to company safety work rules and regulations.
  • Assists and learns to perform maintenance work as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or the shift Lead Maintenance Mechanic to assist with repair and adjustment of processing equipment; changing and replacing belts, sprockets, bearings, chains, motors, pumps, etc. while following proper safety practices.
  • Assists with installing, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting production equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and malfunctioning apparatus such as conveyors, fans, and piping.
  • Serves as a Team Player assisting other mechanics to carry out their duties.
  • Listens to others to receive training in the department in areas such as pump repair, bearing replacement and gear drive repair
  • Works and executes workload while following instructions and assisting with replacement of faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Demonstrates comfort with work in a team environment.
  • Learns and assists with identifying production line operational inefficiencies and suggests improvements.
  • Assists with setting up and operating lathe, mill, drill press, grinder, and other tools to make and repair parts.
  • Assists with lubricating and maintaining machine tools and equipment.
  • Performs welding functions, including Stick, Tig, and Mig.
  • Works in a safe manner and utilizes personal protective equipment and observes safety policies such as Lock Out/Tag Out procedures to insure personal safety.
  • Documents work in the computerized maintenance system detailing the events of the day and logging information about machine condition.
  • Observes and participates in the processes of fabricating simple chutes, taking dimensions, layout design, cut or shear pieces, maintain square, and weld joints and seams maintaining square while avoiding buckling of panels.
  • Assists with basic carpentry, buildings maintenance, and plumbing as needed to support department needs.
  • Owns proper tools for the job as specified by the company.
  • Reads calipers and dial indicators.
  • Operates and understands the function of a forklift.
  • Communicates problems or changes in department to supervisor and appropriate personnel.
  • Attends and participates in all annual, departmental, and job specific required training and monthly informational meetings.
  • Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process in order to ensure a quality operation.
  • Keeps area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Helps to build and promote a strong “Teamwork” environment in each individual work group, the Factory, and the Company.
  • Participates in continuous improvement process.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Must adhere to the McCain Code of Conduct.
  • The employee may be required to successfully complete the orientation and training provided during the first ninety- (90) days of employment.
