About The Position

As an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. In this role, you will also collaborate closely with HVAC Technicians to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems in commercial and industrial environments. Your responsibilities include applying mechanical expertise, performing precision alignment of equipment, conducting fabrication work as required, and assisting with system diagnostics to ensure HVAC and related mechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. Strict adherence to company and site-specific safety policies and procedures is mandatory. You are expected to stop work immediately and report any unsafe condition or activity that could endanger personnel, equipment, or the environment. Maintaining a safe work environment is a core responsibility and an essential part of this role.

Requirements

  • Must hold valid Red Seal Journeyman Ticket as Industrial Mechanic/Millwright.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract is required.
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
  • WHMIS 2015
  • Must have experience servicing belt driven equipment, fans, and electrical motors
  • Strong mechanical ability and problem-solving skills
  • Good co-ordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to troubleshoot and rectify a large variety of operational problems.
  • Good physical strength and stamina
  • Ability to work well with co-workers, contractors & clients.
  • Good written and oral communication skills. All applicants must have ability to read, speak and write fluently in English.
  • Must currently reside in Canada and be eligible to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience required (Preferred) as a ticketed journeyman.
  • Previous oil sands site experience will be considered an asset.
  • Basic understanding of computerized machinery
  • Understanding of fluid mechanics

  • Should be able to communicate clearly in English and hold good oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to read and follow blueprints and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist HVAC Technicians in the installation, repair, and servicing of HVAC systems, including rooftop units, air handlers, condensers, pumps, fans, and ventilation equipment.
  • Support troubleshooting activities by identifying mechanical issues such as misalignment, vibration, worn components, or improper equipment operation.
  • Aid in the disassembly and reassembly of HVAC components during maintenance or replacement tasks.
  • Help perform preventive maintenance on motors, bearings, blowers, belts, dampers, and related mechanical components.
  • Perform precise alignment of rotating equipment using dial indicators or laser alignment tools.
  • Fabricate or modify brackets, mounts, and supports needed for HVAC installations.
  • Operate drills, grinders, welders, cutting tools, hoists, lifts, and rigging equipment safely.
  • Install, maintain, and repair pumps, conveyors, shafts, and other mechanical systems that integrate with HVAC operations.
  • Assist with equipment placement, equipment anchoring, and structural mounting as required.
  • Read and understand blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and scope.
  • Install, align, troubleshoot, dismantle, adjust and maintain industrial machinery and mechanical equipment such as:
  • Operate hoisting and lifting and rigging devices to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery.
  • Inspect, examine and troubleshoot machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Operate machine tools, such as lathes and grinders, to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work as required on machinery and HVAC equipment
  • As required perform other duties that are not listed in this position description but are required to successfully carry out the role.
