Your Role at KIK The Industrial Maintenance Technician 2nd Shift (1:00 PM to 9:30 PM - Monday - Friday with weekends per business need) is responsible for daily technical troubleshooting and maintenance activities for tablet production lines, ensuring equipment reliability and operational efficiency to support production objectives. This is a multi-craft role that performs both mechanical and electrical work. Candidates should bring strong mechanical or electrical skills and a willingness to develop the other through on-the-job training. This position works in a chemical manufacturing environment and requires strict compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), hazardous material handling requirements, and company health, safety, and environmental policies. This position has an hourly rate of $40.50 per hour with a $.50 shift differential.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
2 or more years of experience in a continuous manufacturing environment.
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and automated production equipment, with strong skills in at least one craft (mechanical or electrical).
Willingness to perform both mechanical and electrical work.
Electrical troubleshooting experience.
Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
Ability to read and follow technical documentation, procedures, and work instructions.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety and quality standards.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during scheduled shifts.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds frequently.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, and perform repetitive motions.
Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity levels, and manufacturing environments with strong chemical odors.
Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods, including Tyvek coveralls and a full-face respirator.
Must be clean-shaven to achieve a proper respirator seal.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and repair production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and systems.
Respond to equipment failures and emergencies to support continuous 24/7 production operations.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and analyze equipment performance to identify recurring issues and reliability improvements.
Support equipment reliability programs, including OEE tracking, failure analysis, FMEA, asset management, and maintenance planning.
Apply and support predictive maintenance technologies, including vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing, and motor diagnostics.
Work on 480V motor control systems, VFDs, motor replacement, sensor replacement, and fuse replacement, with an understanding of PLCs and sensor functions.
Collaborate with equipment manufacturers on installation, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
Follow maintenance SOPs, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability.
Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, process fluid, instrumentation, electrical, and control systems, including VFDs, PLCs, sensors, and motor controls.
Maintain and repair tablet presses, conveyors, screw augers, hoppers, pneumatic actuators, scales, and laser coders.
Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, equipment manuals, and process documentation to support maintenance activities.
Support maintenance personnel while promoting best practices, safety compliance, and continuous improvement.
Work effectively in a team environment, demonstrating strong problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
Support a high-volume manufacturing operation through flexible scheduling, including overtime, weekend, and on-call coverage as needed.
Assist with changeovers, setup, and cleaning of packaging equipment.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
Perform other duties and assignments as directed by your supervisor.
