About The Position

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician for their 1st shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) with overtime as required. This is a hands-on, active manufacturing maintenance role focused on owning equipment reliability and troubleshooting. The technician will diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated manufacturing equipment, including PC/PLC-controlled systems. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, identifying potential equipment failures, and coordinating with OEM support when necessary. The role requires a sense of urgency in responding to equipment issues to minimize production downtime and maintain plant productivity. Technicians will also work closely with production, engineering, and plant leadership to resolve challenges and improve operational performance, bringing forward ideas for equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency. Maintaining a safe and organized workplace by following all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and established maintenance procedures is crucial. This role offers direct impact on plant productivity and the opportunity to solve new problems and work directly with the equipment that drives the plant.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, or equivalent experience in the installation, setup, and service of computer-controlled equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting knowledge in: PLC and computer-controlled equipment, Industrial electrical and electronic systems, Pneumatic systems, Mechanical systems and machine repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical diagrams, and equipment documentation.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of assignments, and collaborate effectively with a team.
  • A proactive mindset and commitment to continuous learning across electrical, mechanical, automation, and safety disciplines.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using CMMS or other computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Experience developing or improving preventive maintenance procedures and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot PC/PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, drives, and other industrial control systems.
  • Use electrical schematics, technical documentation, and hands-on diagnostic skills to identify root causes and restore equipment to operation.
  • Respond to equipment issues and production downtime with a sense of urgency.
  • Coordinate with OEM technical support and other resources when additional expertise is needed.
  • Take ownership of problems from initial diagnosis through repair, follow-up, and prevention of future failures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on critical production equipment, including welders, cutting systems, conveyors, and automated assembly equipment.
  • Identify early signs of wear, deterioration, and potential equipment failure.
  • Help develop, improve, and execute preventive maintenance procedures and schedules.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Look beyond the immediate repair to identify opportunities to prevent recurring problems.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and plant leadership to resolve equipment challenges and improve operational performance.
  • Bring forward ideas that improve equipment reliability, safety, maintainability, and overall plant efficiency.
  • Prioritize work based on production needs while maintaining a strong focus on quality and safe work practices.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and established maintenance procedures.
  • Apply lockout/tagout and other safe work practices consistently.
  • Ensure repairs and modifications meet required safety and operational standards.
  • Help maintain an organized, professional work environment where tools, equipment, and workspaces are kept to high standards.
