About The Position

International Paper is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for their Waxahachie Sheets facility. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, replacing, and installing plant mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for all plant equipment. This includes machinery maintenance, lubrication, preventative maintenance (PMs), troubleshooting, repair, upgrading, welding, fabricating, and possible installations. The mechanic will perform preventative maintenance on equipment such as conveyors, presses, and stackers. They must be able to read and understand mechanical prints, AC/DC motors, pneumatic diagrams, and hydraulic diagrams. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and installing mechanical components, AC/DC motors, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, bearings, and power transmission. Fabrication of equipment using welding (arc and gas) is also a key responsibility, along with making adjustments to improve productivity and identifying unusual sounds indicating potential trouble. The mechanic will dismantle equipment to access defective parts and utilize tools such as drill presses, lathes, welding equipment, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

Requirements

Working knowledge of various types of measurement equipment (dial calipers, heat sensing guns, etc.).
Ability to examine and determine to what degree parts have worn, and repair or replace parts as needed.
Ability to operate metal, woodworking, and hand tools to make and repair parts safely.
Ability to operate all types of hand tools (i.e. drill press, grinder, wire brush, acetylene torch, etc.) normally found in a Maintenance shop.
Excellent attendance and safety record.

Ability to work additional and flexible hours including weekends as needed.
Willingness and ability to work all shifts depending on business needs.

Responsibilities

Diagnosing, repairing, replacing, and installing plant mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for all plant equipment.
Performing machinery maintenance, lubrication, PMs, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, welding, fabricating, and possible installations.
Performing preventative maintenance on equipment, such as servicing conveyors, presses, and stackers.
Reading and understanding mechanical prints, AC/DC motors, pneumatic diagrams, and hydraulic diagrams.
Troubleshooting, repairing, and installing mechanical components, AC/DC motors, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, bearings, and power transmission.
Performing fabrication of equipment (welding both arc and gas) to desired needs.
Making adjustments on equipment to improve productivity.
Identifying and locating unusual sounds that indicate potential trouble.
Dismantling equipment to gain access to defective parts.
Utilizing tools such as drill presses, lathes, welding equipment, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Working in SAP to acquire notifications, work orders, requisition parts for work orders, and enter time against work orders.
Attending all meetings, completing training as required, and being safety conscious at all times to help promote a safe working environment.
