About The Position

Maintain operation of machinery and mechanical equipment in Manufacturing, Packaging, PDTS, and Supply Chain by completing preventive maintenance requirements, performing mechanical repairs, work orders, and troubleshooting following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications. This role requires the ability to troubleshoot, repair, or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery. Responsibilities include disassembling, repairing, or replacing malfunctioning components, identifying faulty equipment, assessing part conditions, and safely operating various tools and equipment. The position also involves working with stock room personnel, maintaining equipment PMs, attending shift meetings, and participating in production scheduling for preventive maintenance. Continuous learning in pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical knowledge is expected, along with flexibility in adapting to changing priorities and assignments. Knowledge of PPE and safe tool operation is crucial, as are basic electrical skills for component disconnection. Essential functions include performing tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching above the head, fine manipulation, repetitive tasks, and climbing stairs/ladders/platforms. Lifting objects up to 40 pounds without assistance or over 40 pounds with assistance is required, as is manipulating drums up to 200 pounds. The role involves operating high-speed equipment, using basic math skills, operating a computer, troubleshooting, and replacing components. Adherence to safe operation, personal safety, understanding and using PPE, and following safe practices are mandatory. The ability to discern visual and audible alarms, read and apply SOPs for cGMP compliance, and effectively participate in decision-making processes including conflict resolution, problem-solving, planning, communication, time management, and priority setting are also key. Maintaining accurate records, legible writing, comprehending technical materials, knowing machine terminology, maintaining acceptable attendance, complying with drug testing, and working overtime as required are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery.
  • Disassemble, repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of equipment such as bearings, chain and mechanical drives, belt drives, pulleys, sprockets, gears, levers, cranks, linkages, springs, shaft couplers, brakes, clutches, cams, followers, cylinders, pumps, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, pneumatic devices, lock out valves, filters, regulators, air lines, adjust/replace mechanical sensors, limit switches, and prox switches.
  • Identify faulty equipment through observation and systematic testing.
  • Assess the condition of used parts using micrometers, calipers, machinist rulers, depth gauges, feeler gauges, dial indicators, screw pitch gauges, squares/levels, and specifications.
  • Able to safely select and work from ladders, lifts, and platforms as required
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing or repairs.
  • Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment.
  • Safely operate fork lifts, power tools, hoists and hand tools such as hacksaws, files, punches, electric drills, taps/dies, pullers, drill press, bench grinder, cut off saw, band saw, hydraulic press, mechanical arbor press, chop saw, parts washer, belt/disc sander, etc.
  • Move portable equipment with the use of pallet jacks, electric jacks, or forklift
  • Uncrate new equipment and dispose of crating and pallet materials
  • Measure and adjust pneumatic and hydraulic components utilizing appropriate instruments (air regulator/pressure gauge).
  • Verify the adequacy of repairs.
  • Study blueprints or manufacturers’ manuals, data sheets, function charts, schematics to determine correct installation or operation of machinery.
  • Work with the Stock Room personnel to maintain parts and tools inventory.
  • Source replacement parts and perform repairs.
  • Work with maintenance resources to maintain/update the equipment PM’s
  • Attend daily shift meetings to prioritize work orders and minimize downtime.
  • Work along with production scheduling to schedule preventive maintenance activities and provide estimated duration for the work being scheduled.
  • Maintain pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanical knowledge via on-going training, industry workshops and technical reading when available.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changes in priorities, work assignments, work conditions and other interactions that may impact preestablished courses of action for completing projects and assignments.
  • Ability to identify information, materials, and resources needed to complete a project or assignment.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks or parts of tasks simultaneously to ensure timely completion of projects and other work activities.
  • Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to safely complete work assignments.
  • Knowledge of safe and responsible operation, maintenance, and organization required for tools and equipment used for Maintenance to protect self and others in the work place.
  • Ability to perform basic Electrical Skills to allow safe disconnection of motors and components for repair and troubleshooting.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, pushing and pulling.
  • Reach and perform work above the head.
  • Use hands for fine manipulation and repetitive tasks.
  • Climb stairs/ladders/platforms, etc. on equipment for purposes of operating, maintaining and troubleshooting.
  • Lift objects up to 40 pounds without assistance or over 40 pounds with assistance.
  • Manipulate, tip, roll, and place a drum weighing up to 200 pounds onto scales and pallets.
  • Use basic hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, and other hand tools as required.
  • Operate high speed equipment.
  • Use basic math skills for batch record calculations & analyze data.
  • Operate a computer to input and access data.
  • Troubleshoot and replace basic equipment components.
  • Meet the requirements of safe operation and personal safety by understanding and properly using required personal protective equipment including PAPR and following safe practices.
  • Give and discern the various visual and audible alarms and signals for equipment startup, evacuation, fires, etc.
  • Read and apply SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) to daily work to meet cGMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) compliance.

  • Maintain accurate records and data
  • Read, write legibly, and comprehend high school level material, as well as technical training materials on various operations and systems in the language that is the accepted norm for the site.

  • Prepare maintenance reports and summary presentations following major repair events
  • Participate in process reliability data analysis and trends discussions with Engineering to determine root cause and next steps.
  • Work with maintenance resources to continually update the equipment PM’s
  • Author Change Controls and update PM’s accordingly
  • Provide Technical input for investigations to determine possible causes, support root cause determination efforts, and develop/assign appropriate corrective actions.
