About The Position

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic performs technical duties in the maintenance and repair of Wastewater Treatment Plant facilities and equipment. The role also supports maintenance of wastewater treatment plant equipment, sewage lift stations, and city drinking water wells. The selected candidate must complete a background investigation, pre-employment urinalysis, and pre-employment physical before starting with the City of Statesboro.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of experience in a related field.
• Valid State of Georgia Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment, sewage lift stations, and city drinking water wells.
• Repair or rebuild mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and pumps; maintain and repair department vehicles.
• Perform preventive maintenance, including greasing pumps, cleaning wet wells, and changing filters, belts, and seals.
• Maintain inspection, repair, and maintenance records for pumps, wells, motors, and lift stations; complete log books and document time and materials.
• Operate equipment such as a backhoe, skid loader, dump truck, and front-end loader.
• Assist in welding and fabricating parts and equipment.
• Maintain stock of parts and supplies.
• Perform plumbing repairs.
• Perform building repairs and maintenance, including carpentry repairs and painting.
• Perform general housekeeping duties at the shop and clean and wash trucks and equipment.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies.
