About The Position

UPS is hiring Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Mechanics, also described as Industrial Maintenance Mechanics, with strong hands-on electrical experience. The role maintains equipment in a UPS package-handling facility to keep it operating efficiently and effectively. The work is fast-paced and involves routine interaction with other hub employees. Candidates must be available to work first, second, or third shift in a 24 x 7 operation and must pass an electrical assessment.

The position is permanent. Starting pay is $39.92 per hour. Union-represented wage rates, ranges, and benefits are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on electrical experience and background.
• Must pass an electrical assessment.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.
• Must be available to work first, second, or third shift in a 24 x 7 operation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, adjust, and replace AC and DC electrical equipment, including batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers, servo-driven equipment, photoelectric devices, transducers, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and encoders.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace mechanical components, including motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace pneumatic equipment, including diverters, lubricators, hoses, and coils.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace hydraulic equipment, including hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps.
• Weld equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports, package-handling equipment, carts, and grating, as defined by the scope of work.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment, including conveyors, bulk carts, and powered industrial equipment.
