About The Position

The Director of Engineering is responsible for leading the Engineering Team in areas such as factory design, improvement, and construction, equipment installation, vendor interaction, and researching/evaluating project costs, budgets, and capital expenditures. This position also serves as a mentor and technical support for the facility maintenance teams. The role involves providing leadership to the Engineering Team and the Facility Maintenance Team on project work, equipment installation, and new construction. The Director will direct design and layout initiatives for new projects or equipment installation, and lead the vision, strategy, planning, and communication of maintenance capital projects related to facilities and equipment. This includes identifying best-in-class equipment, processes, facilities, and performing financial analysis. The role also requires negotiating, developing, and maintaining supplier relationships, and working closely with sales, marketing, and development teams to ensure deadlines are met. Collaboration across functions is key to improving projects, maintenance issues, product reformulation, and the introduction of new manufacturing processes. The Director will provide leadership to Engineering and Maintenance staff, mentoring and developing them by fostering an environment of inclusion and continuous improvement. Developing long-term and short-term departmental goals that align with the Company's strategic plan and key initiatives is also a responsibility. Additionally, the Director will develop and manage the department's budget by tracking records, purchase orders, and monitoring/analyzing variances. The role manages plant capital equipment investments and collaborates with all functional groups to achieve monthly financial commitments for business units. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the Engineering Team and the Facility Maintenance Team on project work, equipment installation, new construction, etc.
  • Directs design and layout initiatives of new projects or new equipment installation.
  • Lead the vision, strategy, planning, and communication of maintenance capital projects related to facilities and equipment: Identify best-in-class equipment, processes, facilities, financial analysis
  • Negotiate, develop and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Work closely with the sales, marketing, and development teams to ensure new and current changes achieve deadlines.
  • Work cross-functionally to improve projects, maintenance issues, reformulation of products, and the introduction of new manufacturing processes, etc.
  • Provide leadership to Engineering and Maintenance staff, mentoring and developing by fostering an environment of inclusion and continuous improvement.
  • Develop long-term and short-term goals for the department that supports the Company's strategic plan and key initiatives.
  • Develop and manage the department's budget by tracking records and purchase orders, and monitoring/analyzing variances from budgeted goals.
  • Manages plant capital equipment investments and works closely with all functional groups toward the success of monthly financial commits for the business units.
