About The Position

Apex is seeking a Mid-level industrial hygienist (IH) ready to travel throughout the United States to provide overarching occupational health and safety expertise to a portfolio of national clients in the aerospace, warehousing, manufacturing, and distribution industries. We have multi-decade relationships with our clients and work with them hand-in-hand to help them achieve their occupational health and safety, ergonomic, and safety engineering goals. This position entails supporting routine ongoing work and negotiation with numerous customer stakeholders, all of whom need to be satisfied with respect to project purpose, scope, and tactics. This role will provide onsite and remote IH support on a periodic basis depending on client need. The location and duration of projects are subject to change based on the client’s request. Projects and deployment may range from under 1 week to 3 months. The role will entail a broad scope of IH support such as standard shop floor assessments, sampling and interpretation, and EHS facility program improvement, implementation, and management. This role will also act as an advisor to clients on occupational safety and health issues. As part of working with this portfolio of clients, this role will provide input to Apex’s client relationship managers and business development staff on potential new EHS support projects. This role will participate in business development activities as directed. The right candidate will have technical expertise in occupational industrial hygiene with a general base of health and safety knowledge. They will also have the project management and leadership skills to implement a national program at a local site. Perhaps most importantly, the ideal candidate will be an energetic self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as a team to produce results. This candidate can permanently reside anywhere in the United States, understanding that this role will require travel and part time relocation. Travel costs within reasonable range of a major airport, lodging, and per diem will be provided for on-site projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with approximately 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Electrical Magnetic Frequency (EMF) experience
  • Chemical and toxicology knowledge/background
  • Deep knowledge of vertical standards and program management
  • Willing to travel
  • Experience with data management and report preparation
  • A creative self-starter.
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment paired with the overall work statement provided by the customer to plan and accomplish goals
  • Experienced in ensuring compliance with all EHS/OSHA/ACGIH and NIOSH regulations
  • Tracks changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Ability to successfully multi-task
  • Strong safety awareness and understanding of safe work practices
  • Represents Apex’s excellence to client stakeholders
  • Strong background in occupational health and safety sciences such as chemistry, physics, toxicology, radiation, safety, etc.
  • Strong skills in collecting, assessing, organizing, and summarizing data
  • Applicable experience in following regulatory methodologies for gathering impactful data
  • Ability to lead audits, inspections, and investigations and coordinate resolution of issues
  • Understands emerging technology for the identification of potential hazards and control methods
  • Ability to collaborate with clients to design, implement, execute, and report on an agreed-to service plan
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

  • Industrial ventilation surveys: paint booths, downdraft tables, sanding booths, laboratory hoods
  • Travel to client’s facilities located throughout the United States.
  • Typically when deployed, schedule will be full time, onsite support (5 days a week, 8-hour days).
