Requirements

  • Two- or Four-year college degree in environmental sciences or related field of study.
  • 0-2 years field experience in environmental or hazardous materials testing.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator, safety harness, and other personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license, ability to pass driver background check.
  • Must be MS Office proficient, possess excellent communications and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work independently or in team setting.
  • Ability to travel locally up to 90% of the time.
  • Effective time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Current USEPA AHERA Building Inspector and Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor for Vermont is preferred; however, can offer training.
  • Current USEPA Lead Inspector and/or Lead Risk Assessor for Vermont is preferred; however, can offer training
  • Knowledge of Vermont Asbestos and Lead Regulations preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCad desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mold, asbestos, lead, indoor air quality, and other building science-related assignments.
  • Operate and maintain testing equipment and instruments including air sampling pumps, real-time air monitoring equipment, moisture meters, IR cameras, and calibrators.
  • Complete data sheets and chain of custody forms and prepare samples for shipment to laboratory.
  • Interact and communicate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agency representatives in a timely manner.
  • Read and understand project specifications, sampling methodologies, and building drawings.
  • Perform environmental, health and safety services.
  • Assist with industrial hygiene and other environmental projects.
  • Prepare reports for senior review.
  • Organizing and prioritizing a diverse workload; maintaining accurate records.
  • Abide by Atlas' health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in other types of environmental testing and monitoring work.
  • Cross training can be provided.
