About The Position

As an Industrial Hygienist Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting environmental health and safety work across active project sites. This role is ideal for students or early-career professionals who want real-world field exposure, mentorship from experienced industrial hygienists, and the opportunity to contribute to work that protects worker health and community environments.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and must meet qualifications to successfully complete DISA/Drug-Alcohol Testing.
  • Ability to write, take legible field notes, follow instructions, and have critical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator, safety harness, and other personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Ability to travel locally up to 50% and have reliable transportation.
  • Candidate must be located in AZ.

Nice To Haves

  • Working toward an associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or Certificate in industrial hygiene, project planning, management, environmental sciences, engineering, construction, architecture, occupational health or a related science field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct indoor air quality, microbial, industrial hygiene and other hazardous materials surveys.
  • Collect environmental and personal samples for analysis, and prepare samples for shipment to laboratory for analysis.
  • Collect detailed field notes and photographs to assist project managers with report preparation.
  • Prepare chain-of-custody documents for analytical testing, record survey data on approved forms completely and legibly, and compose detailed sample location maps.
  • Prepare reports detailing survey/project information including methodology, results and recommendations.
  • Use standard equipment, such as hand tools for collection of building material samples, high volume and low volume pumps, rotometer, moisture meter, mold pump, infrared camera, IAQ meter.
  • Ability to calibrate and use field instruments, download data, clean, and maintain equipment.
  • Drive a company vehicle or rental vehicles – requires valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
  • Travel locally and regionally to project sites, as required. Out-of-state travel may be required on occasion.
  • Work off-hours and weekends periodically, when required.
  • Maintain current knowledge of state and federal regulations and industry trends.
  • Communicate effectively with Senior Project/Project Managers, staff, clients, and contractors.
  • Study reference materials and participate in training and development activities.
