About The Position

We are Doe Run - producing metals and recycling batteries for a clean energy future. The Doe Run Company is seeking a Industrial Hygienist to oversee site occupational health compliance. Includes compliance with OSHA lead, cadmium, and arsenic standards, exposure to hazardous atmospheres and gases, oversight of the change house, cleaning contractor and laundry service, oversight of the blood lead program and occupational health specialist, oversight of division PPE requirements, and support of the EHS group. This position is located at our Buick Resource Recycling Center in Boss, MO. Based in St. Louis, Missouri, The Doe Run Company is a privately held natural resources company and one of the largest lead producers in the Western Hemisphere. Requirements

  • High school Diploma or equivalent AND 5 years of experience in industrial hygiene or relevant safety experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field AND 3 years of experience in industrial hygiene or relevant safety experience.
  • Must have and maintain a valid, current driver’s license
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and health and safety best practices.
  • Strong Communication Skills (written and verbal).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with or knowledge of budget forecasting software, HRIS, ERP systems, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement site compliance programs related to health and safety. Includes evaluating and sampling potential hazards (noise, metals, chemicals, ergonomics, etc.), site medical program oversight, and site cleaning contractor oversight.
  • Conduct routine and follow-up health and safety inspections of work areas for regulatory compliance and health and safety hazards. Document identified issues, provide guidance and appropriate resolutions, and update site practices and policies to continuously improve site health and safety.
  • Analyze and report on site health, safety measurements, and indicators for trends, and make recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
  • Develop and conduct training onsite to help employees identify and manage health and safety hazards through Safety meetings, group meetings, and individualized counseling.
  • Provide training, coaching, and development support to the occupational health specialist to promote high-quality, accurate, customer-oriented, and efficient services.
  • Review, update, and implement site health and safety plans as required by OSHA or as necessary to eliminate or reduce hazards.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
